Hair Loss Results

Despite the lack of coverage in the media for women, both men and women suffer from forms of hair loss or Alopecia and the symptoms themselves can be embarrassing for the sufferer. It is widely seen as a natural occurrence for men, but for some reason not in women and the images seen in todays glossies have us all thinking that anything other than thick lustrous hair is a disaster. This should be all in the past now, and when I was asked to write this piece I was more than happy to look into the drugs that cause hair loss, simply because so many articles have been written already about the hereditary disease.

Please remember that this article is informal and is written in brief detail. If you believe that your current medication may be causing your hair to thin or fall out rapidly, then you must seek advice from a Health Professional who can advise you properly.

What Are The Drugs That Cause Hair Loss in Women?
. Anti-coagulents
. Heparin
. Male Hormones / testosterone enhancing drugs
. Medication for Parkinsons Disease
. Medication to lower cholesterol

Not each and every drug can be listed here so I have tried to list the commonly known drugs and the groups (such as for lowering cholesterol). Chemotherapy treatments are known to be the cause of thinning or balding hair simply due to the high (and controlled) levels of radiation that the sufferer is subjected to. These drugs and treatments are normally used in both men and women and can be the direct cause of hair loss. Hair loss remedies can be difficult to find when you are taking medication already, although there are remedies out there that are suitable - you really just have to do your homework.

Natural remedies can be taken, but again you must read the precautionary leaflets provided or contact the manufacturer or your Doctor to discuss which female hair loss treatments you can actually take safely with your existing medication. In some cases, you will be advised to wait (if possible) until your current medication has finished or can be changed so that it does not counteract the work of your hair loss treatment.

What Now?
Alongside the drugs that can cause chronic or mild hair loss, there are many other causes of hair loss and this may be the basis for your problem. Many causes can include inheriting the dominant gene from your Father or Mother, hormone imbalances, diet (vitamin deficiency), injury or illness and even serious forms of stress. Pregnancy is known to cause thinning hair around four to six months after the birth although this is not seen as an illness as your body is relieving you of the extra hair you gained whilst you were pregnant.

If you believe you may be suffering from any kind of hair loss, you may have seen extraordinary amounts of hair in the bath or shower after you have used it or in your brush, it is extremely important that you consult your Doctor so that any underlying issues can be diagnosed or ruled out, they are the professionals after all and if you are worried they can set you on the right path to recovery.
